Lesego

You have to look twice to notice Lesego’s disability, but it forced him to abandon school in year 7. For him, access to social support and psychotherapeutic counselling was especially important. Thanks to donations to our Life Journey programme, Lesego now has weekly psychotherapeutic sessions. These are doing him a world of good: the characteristically radiant smile has returned to his face. The 24-year-old now works on a regular basis at the Soweto vegetable farm, where he has become one of our best vegetable sellers due to his friendly, approachable manner. He tends the plants and animals with loving care, and invariably motivates his colleagues with his positive attitude.

The sense of being a valuable asset has made Lesego a genuine star performer who works hard and is always cheerful. His positive outlook is mainly down to the intensive psychological support he has received. This was not easy to arrange during a pandemic, but we will continue to offer our full support. His own life journey is just beginning – and we look forward to seeing where it leads.
